Adrienne Washington
Investigative Journalist
I am a current Roy W. Howard Fellow covering rural communities throughout Maine for the Maine Monitor. I received a Master of Arts in Investigative Journalism from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication and a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in diversity from the University of Washington.
Using Adobe Premier, Audition, Photoshop, and AP Style editing, I have published data-driven, investigative, and narrative reporting from local and international news outlets including the Los Angeles Times, the Seattle Times, the Associated Press, ABC News and MSNBC. The Pioneer News Group Awards for Excellence in Journalism presented me with a Community Journalism award in 2021 following my University of Washington Premier Internship with Sound Publishing. In 2023, I received two EPPY Awards in the professional categories for "Best Community Service Project/Reporting" and "Best Investigative/Enterprise Video" for the project "In the Sheriff We Trust."

My Portfolio
I’ve put together a selection of my most recent and memorable work as an investigative reporter. My goal is to produce meaningful work that positively reflects and impacts the communities covered in my work. These articles highlight my ability to explain complex topics to the public while also determining factual and important information.

It was a reporting priority for our team to land an on-camera, in-person interview with a key source of our investigation and a main objective as lead field reporter to pursue.
